Obviously the clan world has shrunk but I wouldn't have guessed it was by this much. Take out all the random botters/gold farmers and this game is less popular now than it was prior to 2004. Its also interesting that after the wilderness update the graph seems to have stabilized a little bit. Perhaps this means the community will start to grow again?

I knew Tampa would be the highest for Rs played for cities. So many scape kids around here. And yeah maybe, but then again there are so many other games out and Runescape doesn't appeal to many.

 

Either people like longer MMO's with a lot of quests, graphics, etc.

Yes... but googling does give a good representation of how popular a site is. Web traffic is measured on Alexa.com and it shows the same thing, just doesnt go back as many years as google so I posted the google graph.

What do you expect lol. Before the wildy/free trade came back, this game was **** and every update that came out was pointless and retarded.

 

Also; as the game gets older and newer games come out, popularity is bound to go down. But maybe we will see more and more people come back/join now that wildy/free trade is back.

Maybe other games have been more appealing to computer gamers. Games like minecraft, wow and other MMOs with way better graphics just look "cooler"

There used to be a few pure clans and a top 5 main clan that were strictly Lithuanian. Haven't heard from them in a while though so its kinda surprising rs is still big there. Another surprise is Canada - rs is way more popular there than the US, except for Florida randomly.
