I hereby declare and confirm that the sort of account hitherto regarded as pure to be defined as one that

 

• Was intentionally made for the purpose of having an advantage in combat against other players in Runescape
  
• Up to or exactly consists of the following skill levels in combat for P2P based PKing:
  • 80 defence and under
    
  • 95 prayer and under
    
  • any mix of other combat related skills
    

  OR

   

   

  [*]Up to or exactly consists of the following skill levels in combat for F2P based PKing:

  • 40 defence and under
    
  • 44 prayer and under
    
  • any mix of other combat related skills
    

 

This broad definition is to be regarded as the only commonly acceptable category for all sorts of pures ranging from 1 defence pures to armor type pures (e.g. initiate pures, addy pures, rune pures, barrows pures) and from 1 prayer pures to prayer beasts (e.g. 31 prayer pures, 44 prayer pures, turmoil pures) and as such, used as reference when validating whether an account should be referred to as being pure or main.

Q: My defence level is over 80, why am I not pure?

A: Your defence level is such that it no longer provides you with stat requirement items that would enhance your performance in combat along with the higher skill level. If your combat level is based on ranged or magic, you may consider yourself a tank, otherwise your combat skill levels place you in the category of main.

 

Q: This is ridiculous! Isn't 20-/10- defence the universally accepted definition of a pure account?

A: A long, long time ago when you were still sucking your momma's nipples, any PK account that had combat stats giving it advantage over other players of the same level would be regarded as pure. For further information on these distant times and places you should take a look at this. As you may notice, being pure has ment different things at different periods in RS history. This has called for an evolution of the word pure from being synonymous with low defence and prayer to a collection of more complex elements.

2-4def = failed pure, impure, but so close to being a pure that we just call it pure, but technically its not.

5 def = steel pure

6-9 def = failed steel pure

10 def = black pure?

any sort of pure with any sort of armour that requires higher def lvl than 1 isnt pure, not saying it couldnt be an ownage build for pking with higher def, but it aint pure.

 

im 5 def, so im not a real pure, but im so close to being so it works out fine for pking just like one.

another lil funny fact:

 

getting from 20-30def+95prayer today, is a bigger difference than getting from 20-40def a few years ago. therefore it disgusts me that pure clans today accept 'turmoil pures' and still call themselves pure clans.

A common yet untrue misconception. The original use of the term pure was, unsuprisingly, in reference to an account purely trained in one skill. The original use of the term pure in PvP was simply in reference to accounts with 1 prayer and magic. Most pures found at this time in RSC would be rune pures, as explained in detail by Omegakairi of HF:

So this is it, all these RS2 products of today who still believe that there is no such thing as a Rune pure and continue to say that you are not pure if you are over 1def is stupid. Not just that but people have said in the past that it used to be 10 and above to be pure, then... 20def and below = pure. Then a "famous" pure gets 21 by accident so everyone now says 21 and below is pure. This proves just how media driven these players are and are putting no fact to the meaning of the word pure, which in fact used to mean a player with 1 prayer and 1 magic (if you follow the word to it's roots only accounts with a single stat trained would be pure), but then was changed to low prayer can be pure and then to hp over combat = pure.

So like I said earlier the reason Rune pures were the first type of pure is because any player could wear any item at any level, so people instinctively went for the best stuff, and when requirements were added people wanted to get back to wear they were before, and so Rune pures once again were about.

Therefore rune pures are in fact the original supreme type of pure accounts, other misconceptions are the invention of new pkers who generally found pures at the later era of masser PKing.
