What's stopping you from accepting 40 defence, yet 39 defence is okay?

gives clans a reason to be afraid of you / have excuses and not give you fights, u'll have bigger mains called on you. Only way i can see 40 def is if rs makes a really good quest that gives def xp to pures making 30 go to 40

Because 40 def and rune armor has always been considered "main" or "unpure." Since addy was and is complete garbage, mains never wore it so clans desperate to gain an advantage decided that if mains didn't use something, it was pure and proceeded to allow and encourage higher and higher def levels, somehow convincing themselves that 122 combat with 35 def is pure.

 

edit: and LOL if you think pure warfare is what is keeping clans from accepting 40 def

Shoulda never gone past 20, but its happened now. Once one clan starts they have an advantage and erryone moves up. Turmoil = no1 pure community killer :D

When you think about it, 40 def is a huge gap from anything lower.

That would mean pure clans having to fight zerkers/mains and it would all be pointless :/
